Fireworks fly into crowd at Millennium Square
Fireworks shooting into the gathered crowd from the top of At-Bristol roof and exploding only a few feet above their heads caused the display on Millennium Square to be abruptly halted on Thursday night.
In a statement, At-Bristol said: “Thanks to everyone who attended the launch of the Millennium Square Festive Fair and fireworks tonight. The display went as planned until a fault at the end which we are fully investigating.
is needed now More than ever
“At-Bristol takes the safety of its visitors both in venue and in the outside spaces very seriously. The firework display was carried out by a team of trained professionals who knew the site very well and have delivered many similar displays in the past.”
The display was carried out by Matthew Tosh.

Bristol24/7 has asked for a comment from Tosh, whose website describes him as “a presenter, broadcaster, pyrotechnician and training consultant” who brings a “creative spark” to events and live performances.
Nobody is believed to have been injured by the rogue fireworks.
Here is some of reaction from members of the crowd:
Relive the terror of guy Fawkes by standing in millennium sq and having #fireworks shot at you by trained professionals. Cheers #Bristol
