First flights from Filton as Fiesta Fortnight begins
Thirty hot air balloons took off from Elm Park in Filton on Wednesday morning as the Fiesta Fortnight began thanks to a new partnership with Costa Coffee.
The Fiesta Fortnight replaces the Balloon Fiesta this year and will see balloons launching from different locations across Bristol that have been nominated by the public.
The first balloons lifted serenely into the air at Elm Park soon before 6.45am on Wednesday with southerly winds due to be taking them over the city centre.

Balloon Fiesta chair, Chris Allcock, said: “This special edition of the fiesta is going to be something spectacular for the city and we are so thankful to Costa Coffee for partnering with us to help this happen.
“There were some clear winners and favourite locations for balloons to fly from, highlighted from the hundreds of suggestions from fiesta fans.
“This first flight at Elm Park was the first time the fiesta has ever flown from this part of the city.”
Costa Express UK & Ireland director, Nick Orrin, added: “We are proud to partner with the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta on such a fantastic event.
“After what has been an unprecedented time for many, we wanted to give something exciting to the Bristol community to enjoy.”
