First look at Bristol’s new e-scooters
New e-scooters were launched in Bath on Wednesday ahead of them coming to Bristol.
From mid-October, the turquoise TIER e-scooters are set to replace the coral-coloured Vois which have been a familiar sight on Bristol’s streets since October 2020.
500 of the e-scooters and e-bikes were placed in Bath overnight, with the Vois there removed at the same time.

The TIER 6 e-scooter and E-bike 3 feature a portrait phone holder with integrated wireless charging, GPS tracking, orange highlighted touchpoints and an integrated cable lock to prevent hacking.
When fully launched across the West of England, there will be 4,000 e-scooters (WESTscoot) available for hire plus 1,500 pedal-only e-bikes (WESTbike) and 20 e-cargo bikes (WESTcargo).

On launching in Bath, Jessica Hall, head of public policy UK for TIER, said: “Today marks the first time people in the West of England will be able to try out TIER’s new shared e-bikes and e-scooters in their city.
“E-bikes are great for longer journeys and all of our bikes feature a front basket, which is convenient when you are carrying a heavy bag.
“We look forward to seeing the bikes carrying users uphill without breaking a sweat and making journeys around the cities quicker and easier.”

George Chamberlain, TIER’s senior corporate communications manager, Northern Europe, added: “It is great to be able to begin the roll out of our service in the West of England and to bring the first shared e-bikes to Bath.
“The uptake of the service has already surpassed our expectations and we have only been live for a day!
“We can’t wait to expand the service into Bristol next month, which will feature improved parking bays and the introduction of cargo bikes into the system as well.”
TIER, which operates in more 650 cities and communities in 30 countries, won the competitive tender to operate the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority’s shared micro-mobility service earlier this year.
