Former chief constable offers arresting story
The former chief constable of Avon and Somerset police is hoping to arrest members of the public with the quality of his fiction writing, as he publishes his first crime novel.
Colin Port resigned from the force in late 2012 after clashing with the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens, who insisted that he reapply for his own job.
Port launched a High Court battle against Mrs Mountstevens, claiming she had “unlawfully induced” him to retire, but this was dismissed by Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart.
Alongside his former colleague Dr Moira Hamlin, who was chair of the Avon and Somerset Police Authority between 2003 and 2010, the thriller Look the Other Way has just been launched.
Set in South Africa, Devon and London, the book tells the story of a miscarriage of justice from the past which is taken up by a disparate group determined to establish what they think is the truth.
Intertwined are issues of culture, leadership and, pointedly, political interference in policing.
Look the Other Way is available in electronic and paper format. Find out more about the book here.
