Fresh appeal for Claire Holland a decade on from disappearance

By Betty Woolerton  Monday Jun 6, 2022

Police have launched a fresh appeal for information about a missing woman  – exactly 10 years on from her disappearance.

Claire Holland was last seen in Bristol city centre on June 6 in 2012, the day after the diamond jubilee celebrations.

The 32-year-old from Lawrence Weston was spotted leaving Seamus O’Donnell’s pub on St Nicholas Street just before midnight. She was reported missing a few days later.

A 40-year-old man who was re-arrested in connection with the case in March 2022 remains on police bail.

Following the platinum jubilee, a new appeal has now been launched with officers re-releasing CCTV footage of her last known movements in an attempt to jog people’s memories.

Detective chief inspector Darren Hannant said: “Claire’s disappearance is being treated as suspicious as there remains no known reason why she would choose to disappear.

“We’ve now just celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, so I’m asking people to cast their mind back to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations – were you in Bristol on the evening of Wednesday 6 June, 2012? Did you see anything which could help our investigation?

Hannant added: “We firmly believe there are people out there with crucial information that could assist our investigation and would urge them to contact us.”

“Please think of Claire’s children and her wider family on this day – they are desperate for answers and deserve to know what happened, and why. If you’re holding on to a piece of information, please share it with us – it could be the key to solving this case.”

In 2021, officers searched Castle Park as part of a major new operation in connection with Claire’s disappearance – scouring its underground spaces.

Since she went missing, police have taken almost 80 statements and hunted through 135 exhibits.

If you can help, call police on 101 and give the reference number 5219172645, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form.
