Fundraiser to take place to raise money for Palestine
A fundraiser is set to take place this Friday to raise money for medics working in Palestine.
The fundraiser comes after some of the largest demonstrations in support of Palestine in years, with hundreds of thousands marching across the country in support.
Protests have taken place since the conflict began following an attack by militant group, Hamas, on Israel on October 7. 1,400 Israelis have so far been killed, and over 6,500 people in Gaza have been killed.
is needed now More than ever
Hosted by Bristol Stop the War Coalition, Bristol Transformed and Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the fundraiser will take place at Hamilton House in Stokes Croft and will see prominent faces on the left speaking, including Moya Lothian-McLean, Rowland Dye and Daisy Carter.
The event aims to “bring together people from across Bristol to discuss what is happening in Gaza, the root causes of the current violence, and how everybody can take action to support freedom and liberation for Palestine”.
This will be followed by a Middle Eastern dinner to fundraise for Medical Aid for Palestinians which is a UK based charity providing critical emergency care and daily support to people on the ground in Gaza.
The meeting will be followed by a session of placard-making ahead of the upcoming solidarity protests set to take place across the country on Saturday.
Following the meeting, a second event is set to see so far unannounced DJs perform at the Old England to raise money for the same charity.
Tickets for both events are available at www.headfirst.co.uk and www.eventbrite.co.uk.
