Gloucestershire could sell Nevil Road ground
Gloucestershire have played county cricket in Ashley Down since 1889 when cricketing colossus WG Grace helped buy the ground.
But the club are now believed to be considering a move away from their historic Bristol home, with the Nevil Road ground thought to be worth between £20m and £40m and likely to be developed for housing if sold.
Members have been invited to a meeting on Tuesday when chairman David Jones wants to “share an important update on the club, our future requirements and the potential impact those may have on our home ground at Nevil Road”.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the club are already considering green-field sites outside of the city, most likely in South Glos which already has attractions such as Bristol Zoo Project with housing due to be built on their original Clifton site.
The County Ground, currently renamed the Seat Unique Stadium due to sponsorship rights, hosts county cricket as well as international one-day and twenty20 matches, alongside special events including gigs and the upcoming Evolution drone light show.
Gloucestershire have so far declined to comment on the story which gives a timeline of 2030 for their new ground to coincide with England, Ireland and Scotland co-hosting the men’s T20 World Cup.
