Graffiti appears on roof of city centre hotel

By Martin Booth  Tuesday May 15, 2018

Questions continue to be asked as to how graffiti appeared high on the roof of a Bristol city centre hotel.

The graffiti has been in place on the cuploa-style roof of the Marriott Royal on College Green since at least the beginning of this month, with Bristol24/7 taking the above photo on May 3.

There was a mixed reaction to the new addition to the hotel after we posted the photo on Instagram on Monday.

“I like Bristol graffiti but this is a step too far,” wrote Nat Davies. “It’s also a tag and not art.”

But graffiti artist Deamze defended the piece. He said: “I’m not sure about the tidal wave of advertising billboards polluting our city but I love this one off bespoke design, dicing with death to get it out there.”

Bristol24/7 understands that the roof was accessed via scaffolding on the next door building and the graffiti is due to be removed soon.

The graffiti has been on the roof of the Marriott Royal for at least 12 days
