Graffiti daubed on Cenotaph
It is mindless vandalism that has left Bristol shocked and stunned.
Graffiti daubed on the Cenotaph has been roundly condemned and blamed by one skater who Bristol24/7 spoke to as the work of one troubled individual.
The vandalism appeared on Monday and appears to make reference to skateboarding and Stokes Croft.

The unknown perpetrator wrote the words in red spray paint on a pair of the square blocks at each corner of the limestone memorial and on some of its stepped plinth.
Despite two of the words saying “skate” and “board”, a skater skating nearby told Bristol24/7 that it was nothing to do with them.
“It’s absolutely disgusting,” he said. “We make sure to stay well away from the Cenotaph.”

Bristol’s Grade II-listed Cenotaph on an area of the Centre known as Magpie Park was unveiled on July 26 1932.
The grand civic ceremony was attended by field marshal William Birdwood, who commanded the Australian Corps for much of the First World War and later commanded the Indian Army.
