‘Heartbroken’ family pay tribute to ‘beautiful’ son after New Cut crash

Callum Norris was one of three people in a car travelling along York Road in Bedminster when it went through some railings into the water of the New Cut.

Following the incident in the early hours of Saturday, the 23-year-old was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

Callum’s family have now paid tribute to their “beautiful son”.

A family statement said: “My beautiful son, taken too soon. Our lives will never be the same. We are all heartbroken and we will love you always and forever.”

Following the incident, Avon & Somerset Constabulary referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The mandatory referral was as a “result of police being in the proximity at the time”, but a police vehicle was not in pursuit of the car.
