Historic Troopers Hill chimney vandalised
The famous chimney on Troopers Hill in St George has been damaged with graffiti.
Vandals targeted the grade II-listed structure on late on December 30, police said. They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.
A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said: “Late on Friday 30 December, the Grade II-listed chimney within Troopers Hill Nature Reserve, St George, was extensively damaged with graffiti.

“If you witnessed anything suspicious, or have any information, please call 101 and quote reference number 5223003302.”
The chimney was built in the 1790s for one of the copper smelting works at the bottom of the hill.
