Hotwells Primary School: ‘a small school with a big heart’

By Martin Booth  Friday Nov 4, 2022

The headteacher of Hotwells Primary School has praised the school’s “wonderful” children after an Ofsted inspection rated the school ‘good’.

Inspectors visited in September and in their recently published report, the school received a strong ‘good’ rating across every category.

“At Hotwells Primary School everyone enjoys being a part of the school community,” wrote Ofsted inspectors.

“The inclusive, nurturing ethos means that pupils feel safe and well looked after.”

Inspectors also said that pupils “enjoy coming to school, take pride in their work… and play and learn together harmoniously, including the very youngest children”

Hotwells Primary School joined the Cathedral Schools Trust in 2021 with inspectors noting that the school has benefited from being part of the multi-academy trust.

Cathedral Primary School headteacher, Sara Yarnold, is currently also at the helm at Hotwells, but from January, Hotwells co-headteacher Kee Jones, will become headteacher.

Yarnold said that she was “delighted with the well deserved outcome of this report”.

She said: “Ofsted commented on the ‘shared spirit’ amongst staff who are so committed to providing an ambitious and creative curriculum.

“We were overwhelmed with the positive support from our school community. Most importantly, we are incredibly proud of our wonderful Hotwells children.”

Jack Lacey, Cathedral Schools Trust head of primary, added: “During the recent Ofsted a parent told a member of the inspection team that Hotwells is a ‘small school with a big heart’.

“We are delighted that the lead inspector’s report notes both the strong teaching and the supportive, family feel within the school.”

Hotwells Primary School is running parent tours for entry in Reception 2023 and for entry into its Nursery throughout the year. For more information, visit www.hotwellsprimaryschool.org.
