Ice rink and skydiving centre plans unvieled
A new indoor ice rink with a sky diving centre and a state-of-the-art rotating ski slope could be joining the world’s biggest trampoline park and a surfing lake at Cribbs Causeway.
Initial plans for the ice rink complex, which will also house a hotel, pub and drive-through cafe, will go on display at The Mall shopping centre on Friday June 19 from 1pm-7pm.
Bristol has been without an ice rink since 2013 when the Frogmore Street facilities were demolished to make way for student accommodation.
is needed now More than ever
The new complex will be built next to Vue cinema by late 2016 if planning permission is granted to developers Bayliss Estates, who partly own The Mall.
David Mace, director at Baylis Estates, said: “Our ambitious plans for the site include building a flagship permanent indoor ice rink so that residents across the district and the wider West of England area no longer have to travel to other parts of the country to access this sort of facility all year round.”
He added that operators had already been chosen for the ice rink, indoor skydiving centre and rotating ski slope.
The wall-to-wall trampoline park, AirHop, is due to open next to Asda this summer.
Meanwhile, investors are also close to their fundraising target for The Wave, a man-made surfing lake near the M5 junction for Cribbs Causeway.
