Immigration protesters clash in city centre

By Bristol24/7  Monday Oct 19, 2015

Seven people were arrested following violent clashes in the city centre between masked anti-immigration and anti-fascist protesters.

About 30 Bristol United Patriots, an anti-Muslim group opposing immigration which they “believe this to be a tactic for the end game of white genocide”, met with a slightly larger “refugees welcome” protest organised by Bristol Antifascists.

The groups clashed on College Green where police struggled to divide them, before some protesters moved to Millennium Square and the harbourside where further clashes took place.

Mounted police and officers in riot gear were dispatched and eventually escorted Bristol United Patriots, who started their protest in Bedminster, away from the city centre.

Seven people were arrested all together on suspicion of assault and affray.

Bristol United Patriots said on their Facebook page the protest was organised to “highlight the homeless situation amongst the ex-service personnel living rough in Bristol and Somali rape gangs operating in this area”.

Scenes from Bristol yesterday. Notice how Antifa members try using their flagpoles against the police. They tried it with a few of the Nationalists/Patriots in attendance and received a kicking for their efforts :)#Antif_Scum_Off_Our_Streets

They marched through Bristol with St George’s flags with slogans written on them, including: “F*** off home, leave our country”, “we love bacon!” and “Muslims, give us back our houses, benefits and jobs”.

Bristol Antifascists said before the protest: “We are a group of local people committed to opposing fascism and all that it stands for. We plan to directly confront their racism, hatred and attempt to divide our class with a simple message – there are enough homes in this rich country of ours for everyone.”

They unravelled a huge banner in College Green saying: “Migrants welcome, Nazis not.”
