Interactive map shows where to find all the little libraries in Bristol
An interactive Google map has been created to keep tabs on where little libraries are located throughout the city.
There are more than two dozen little libraries, places where people can swap books for free, throughout Bristol. The latest to be started is in Bishopston.
People can borrow a book and bring it back or keep a book and swap it for something else.
is needed now More than ever
Jade Palmer, who is part of the Bristol Book Share Facebook group, has created the interactive Google map to document where all of the libraries are.
More than 25 little libraries have been recorded using the map, with Jade and others in the Facebook group currently verifying which still exist and are active.
There are currently eight libraries in north Bristol, 14 in south Bristol, two in east Bristol and three on the outskirts of the city.

“I created the map because I didn’t know of one available,” says Jade. “If people don’t know where they are they might not be used if it’s not along people’s regular walk in their area, and if stops more people buying brand new books then that’s a massive plus.”
People can verify and add libraries via the Bristol Book Share Facebook group.

“I think the little libraries are a really good idea, they are becoming increasingly popular, especially in Bristol it seems,” Jade adds. “I’m not sure why there was so much controversy following the recent one in Bishopston.
“People seemed to think that it shouldn’t be called a library, and what I got from that is that they thought it might stop the actual libraries being a thing, which definitely should not be a concern.
“If anything, it might encourage people to use the libraries when they reopen if they don’t already do so!”
