Jeremy Corbyn to address rally in Bristol

By Louis Emanuel  Tuesday Oct 13, 2015

Jeremy Corbyn will be visiting Bristol on Thursday where he will address Labour members at a rally in the city centre.

The Labour leader is due to be introduced onto the stage by Bristol Labour’s mayoral candidate Marvin Rees.

Rees gave his  “absolute” backing to Corbyn in an interview with Bristol24/7 earlier this week, after previously voting for Andy Burnham as leader.

He said: “I think he’s a good man. I certainly think that he gives an opportunity for people to ask about the running of politics and economics in the UK.”

Details of Corbyn’s visit have not yet been released to the public. But a letter to members from Labour’s South West office said: “Jeremy is holding a campaign rally and Q&A in Bristol this Thursday lunchtime to highlight the impact of the Government’s changes to voter registration – expected to remove one million voters from the electoral roll by the end of the year – and to set out the crucial role Labour has in making sure as many people as possible are able to vote.”

A “city centre” venue is due to be chosen, the email said.
