Luke Jerram’s giant Earth installed at XR Bristol protest

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jul 16, 2019

They already have a pink boat and a few pink canoes to symbolise their fight against the climate crisis.

On Monday evening, Extinction Rebellion had a giant model of the Earth to further bring home what their protest on Bristol Bridge hopes to save.

The artwork by Bristol artist Luke Jerram appeared in the corner of Castle Park nearest the bridge as a temporary installation.

Monday was the first of five days that Extinction Rebellion protesters are due to occupy Bristol Bridge as part of their ‘Summer Uprising’.

The full-size version of Jerram’s Gaia Earth artwork will be on display in the Great Hall at the Wills Memorial Building from August 16 to 18.
