Man bailed over Fishponds double shooting

A man in his 20s arrested in connection a double shooting in Fishponds has been released by police on bail.

The man, arrested on Thursday morning, was held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder following an attack in The Greenway, Hillfields.

The attack at 1am on Wednesday left two men  – aged 44 and 45 – with gunshot wounds, one of them with life-changing injuries to the chest.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area following the attack and are appealing for witnesses to come forward via the non-emergency 101 number.

Correction: The bailed man is aged 20, not 40 as previously reported by police.
