Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and said they thought Suleiman had entered the water on August 27 at about 9pm.

His death is being treated as unexplained, but there are no suspicious circumstances, police said.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police added: “Officers were able to identify Mr Suleiman’s next of kin with the support of the Libyan embassy, and they have been updated about his death. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222210696.
