Man glassed in racially aggravated attack in King Street bar
A man had a pint glass smashed over his head for challenging racist abuse in a King Street bar.
The victim, who is in his 30s, suffered a “substantial head wound” from the attack in Kongs on Friday, March 2 between 9pm and 10pm.
Police say he witnessed a man in his 20s being subjected to racist abuse and when he went to intervene, the offender turned on him.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to following the incidents – the first of which is being treated as a racially aggravated public order offence and the second as racially aggravated GBH.
Investigating officer PC Katie Goncalves said: “The initial verbal abuse was unacceptable enough and no one should have to put up with such deplorable and offensive language.
“When it was challenged by another man, the offender’s behaviour then escalated, resulting in a significant injury being caused to someone who was just trying to help.
“We’re keen to talk to the man in the image we’re releasing as we believe he may have information which could help our inquiry.
