Man in court over fatal Clifton hit and run

A 22-year-old man was due in court on Wednesday morning charged with the death of man found outside a pub in Clifton at the weekend after an alleged hit and run.

Tayo Jones, of Southville Road, Southville, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

The body of 25-year-old Daniel Hickey, from Bishopston, was found outside The Richmond on Gordon Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Dan Hickey was involved in a fatal accident

A post-mortem examination concluded he died from multiple injuries consistent with being involved in a road traffic collision.

Two other people, a 39-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, remain on bail until September 9 after being arrested on suspicion of the same offence.

Jones is also charged with driving other than in accordance with a licence and using a car without third party insurance.

He was due to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court.
