By Betty Woolerton  Saturday Jul 22, 2023

An arrest has been made after a young man from Bristol was found with injuries on Friday night and later died in hospital.

Grosvenor Road remained cordoned off on Saturday morning as forensics examine the scene.

Avon & Somerset Police were called to the street in St Paul’s shortly after 11pm. They said the injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance and has since sadly died.

While the victim has not yet been formally identified, he’s believed to be in his late teens and from Bristol. His family have been made aware and will be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

A man, also in his late teens, has been arrested and remains in police custody.

A heavy police presence remained around Grosvenor Road on Saturday morning

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said: “We’re very grateful to the community for their support to the officers who attended this tragic incident.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area while our enquiries continue and we’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.”

Police added the investigation is at “a very early stage”.

She wrote: “Awoke to hear that another youths life has been taken in St Pauls.

“Sad times for the community and his loved ones.

“As a cllr and human being I send a heartfelt please for peace.”
