Man released over discovery of Hotwells body

The death of a man whose body was discovered by police at a house in Hotwells is no longer being treated as suspicious.

A man in his 40s arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder on Friday morning has now been released without charge.

Police said on Saturday a post-mortem examination had been inconclusive in terms of the cause of death. However, it confirmed that no assault took place.

A toxicology report testing for toxins in the man’s body is now being sought, but could take several weeks.

The dead man has still not been formally identified.
