Community market ceases trading after almost four years
A community market in south Bristol has closed down after almost four years.
The Filwood Community Market took place once a month in Knowle West with a variety of traders selling a range of goods.
But market chairperson and local resident Kevin Williams has confirmed the March market was the last.
is needed now More than ever
In a statement, he said: “I would like to notify everyone that Filwood Community Market CIC has ceased holding markets on the 1st Saturday of the month.
“This decision was taken due to a lack of footfall and increasing difficulties on obtaining traders.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported us especially to Lee Abbey for providing us with refreshments at the market and Re:work for the support”.

The market was first trialled during the local Knowle West Fest in August 2019, and was held monthly from November that year.
But the coronavirus pandemic meant that it had two extended breaks during its run, and it was often blighted by bad rain and wind.
Starting off outside on Filwood Broadway – the local high street in Knowle West – the market eventually moved indoors, into Filwood Community Centre.
In place of the market, the community centre held its own Easter event on Saturday and has said it will be running its own monthly activities and events from May onwards.
The market’s closure comes just a few months after £15m was secured to regenerate Filwood Broadway.
