Rees visits Singapore to drum up more overseas investment in Bristol
Bristol mayor Marvin Rees has been in Singapore this week laying out his plans for a carbon neutral Bristol and the investment opportunities in the city.
These opportunities are contained in a document called the City Leap Prospectus – which Rees tweeted “will transform the way the #Bristol (sic) generates, distributes and uses energy, delivering carbon neutrality by 2050 while tackling fuel poverty today”.
Rees was a speaker at the Green Growth & Business Forum (GGBF) which took place in the Marina Bay Sands hotel whose most luxurious suite costs $17,000 per night.

The City Leap Prospectus details £850m of investment opportunities in everything from domestic energy efficiency to a smart energy system.
Transport has not been included in the total figure but the document talks about further investment opportunities around the forthcoming ‘Bristol Transport Strategy’ including rapid mass transit, low emission vehicles and autonomous vehicles trials.
Two non-energy investment opportunities detailed in the City Leap Prospectus are the Temple Quarter (with no mention of it being a possible site for Bristol Arena) and the so-called Western Harbour, Rees’ ambitious plan to build 3,500 new homes in the Cumberland Basin.
