More details revealed for huge regeneration project in St Philip’s
A “vibrant new canal-side community” could be created in what is currently a hidden and forgotten area of Bristol.
A 1,600-place secondary school, offices, 400 new homes and student accommodation are all planned for the transformation of an area centred around Silverthorne Lane overlooking the Feeder Canal.
The major regeneration site on the north side of the Feeder Canal is part of the plans for the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, which stretches from Temple Meads to the Paintworks.

The school will be part of Oasis Community Learning, a multi-academy trust which already runs eight academies across the city.
Ally Eynon, development lead for Oasis Academy Temple Quarter, said: “We are delighted to be part of this exciting regeneration plan for Bristol. Areas such as Lawrence Hill and Barton Hill are especially in need of more school places, and we look forward to working with our local community to create the school they want and need.”
In addition to the new school, the site will include around 400 new homes, including affordable housing.
New employment space is also proposed for the former industrial brownfield site, with the University of Bristol confirmed as the development partner for this element.
Student accommodation forms the final piece of the development jigsaw, with some 750 student beds proposed.
