New bridge opens next to the Louisiana

The first road bridge to be opened in Bristol area since the St Phillip’s Causeway 20 years ago is now open to traffic next to the Louisiana pub.

The new MetroBus bridge on Bathurst Basin sits alongside the existing bridge, which has become one-way and now takes traffic towards Redcliffe.

Work is currently being finished on a new 3.5 metre shared cycling and walking path on the new bridge.

Providing a link between the existing paths on Commercial Road and Cumberland Road, it is expected to be open early in the new year.
