New Bristol University campus delayed until 2025
The University of Bristol has delayed the opening of its new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus due to “uncertainties” caused by Brexit and the coronavirus crisis.
The £300m campus on Cattle Market Road now won’t open until the second half of 2025, with construction starting on it in the summer of next year.
This is the second time the opening of the campus has been delayed, after its initial 2022 opening was pushed back to 2023 in 2019.
is needed now More than ever

University of `Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus has been delayed again and now won’t be completed until 2025.
Barra Mac Ruairí, the University’s chief property officer, says that the new campus is on a “challenging site”, and that it is a “challenging time” to build it.
He says: “A project of this scale and ambition comes with a range of complexities, which have been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. However, we have pushed forward and will use this time to recalibrate and make the project even stronger and add more resilience.
“Our vision for the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus has not changed and we remain 100 percent committed to contribute to the research, innovation and skills required to drive the city and region’s post-COVID recovery and help regenerate and deliver the future vision for Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh.”
The new campus is part of the Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh regeneration programme, which will also see 10,000 homes built, Bristol Temple Meads station refurbished, and 22,000 jobs created.
The former Royal Mail sorting office next to Temple Meads was demolished in 2019 to make way for the university campus, which will be home to 3,000 students and 800 university staff, as well as provide accommodation for almost 1,000 students.
