New Brunel museum fully funded
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the world famous 19th century engineer who designed Bristol landmarks such as the SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, will now officially have his own museum.
The SS Great Britain’s Being Brunel project is now fully funded, thanks to a new £620,000 Government grant recently announced in this year’s budget.
is needed now More than ever
Most of the money will be used to craft a new museum and national centre for the study of the life and works of Brunel.
“We are delighted with the news of funding and the national recognition for this important project,” says Matthew Tanner. “It is a fantastic boost for cultural tourism in the South West, with the new museum anticipated to drive an additional £1 million plus each year into Bristol’s economy, following its opening in early 2018.”
