New Lidl opening on city centre corner
The bright block colours of Lidl’s branding have appeared in the city centre as a new supermarket opens there soon.
In what used to be H&M, the shop sits on a corner overlooking a Tesco, Pret and Cotswold Outdoors.
The German retailer first confirmed its plans to take over the site on Union Street back in November 2020 when H&M closed its doors during the pandemic.
The building, which also houses the Odeon Cinema, was constructed on the site of the original Fry’s chocolate factory.
Now, a screen outside the new Lidl site has been tagged with the wording ‘every Lidl helps’.
Joining at least 17 other Lidl branches in the Bristol area, the official opening for the new store has been confirmed for September.
