New play area to be built in south Bristol park
A new play area could be built in a south Bristol park after residents argued the site needs improvement.
Victoria Park in Bedminster has been awarded money by Bristol City Council to build a new play area.
The grant is part of a wider plan to boost Bristol’s parks which will see £1.6m allocated across seven of Bristol’s green space.
is needed now More than ever
Under the scheme, Victoria Park will see £191,000 spent on improving facilities that “encourage access and participation in play, sport and physical activity”, although it’s not yet clear what the details of these are.
The planned section for the play area renovation is next to the park’s current skateboard park. Although the park has multiple play areas, many of these are in need of refurbishment or fail to cater to different age ranges.
Councillors are keen to hear residents’ thoughts on what the space should look like and are hosting a community conversation, to discuss the planned changes.
Taking place on July 1 in Windmill Hill Community Centre, this will be an opportunity for residents to ask questions and suggest ways to make the new recreational space as accessible as possible.
