New podcasts explore fascinating work of Pervasive Media Studio residents
The Residents is a series of four podcasts exploring tech, arts, economy and health through the lens of community and creativity.
Produced by Will Taylor and Jo Kimber and supported by the Pervasive Media Studio, the new series aims to give listeners a backstage access pass to the Studio and its residents.
Fortnightly episodes will highlight the vitality and difference that comes from engaging with a wide range of voices, when looking at contemporary issues.
is needed now More than ever
The Pervasive Media Studio hosts a diverse community of more than 160 artists, creative companies, technologists and academics exploring experience design and creative technology.
The podcast was recorded entirely in lockdown and kicks off with ‘The Residents are BAME-TASTIC’ featuring author and screenwriter Nikesh Shukla, social anthropologist, and supper club host Fozia Ismail, and Rife mentor Adibah Iqbal.
Will and guests cover everything from lockdown, to the Black Lives Matter movement and most importantly community and hope – themes that play a huge part in the lives of residents of the Pervasive Media Studio community.
Will said: “Lots of creative and innovative work comes out of the Studio and we wanted to introduce people to the residents with more of a focus on the people – showing the diverse range of interesting people the space holds and giving a voice and a platform to the more voices within the community.
“We’re so pleased with the results – something that is entertaining, informative, surprising and relatable and we can’t wait to share it all with you!”
Pervasive Media Studio executive producer, Jo Lansdowne, added: “In supporting The Residents podcast we hope to share some of the brilliant moments of exchange that take place at the Pervasive Media Studio with a wider audience.
“As we collectively reflect on the world and dream about change, the more important it becomes to pay attention to conversations that happen within our communities.
“Jo and Will are both artists and producers of extraordinary insight and care with a rare ability to put people at ease while steering their thinking towards a place of depth and authenticity.
“I am so pleased that they are leading this piece of work and that we have the opportunity to be a part of it. Enjoy listening!”
