No. 51 Stokes Croft
Formerly the much-missed Junction (which was an ace punk-friendly dive, where going for a slash often involved paddling across a pool of week-old urine) No. 51 is a the latest nicely refurbed incarnation of one of the oldest public houses in Bristol, conveniently huddled in the self-styled cultural quarter of Stokes Croft. With very pleasant toilets, and an impressive selection of boozes to wash down their wood fired pizzas, they’re open 7 days a week, serving grub everyday with DJs and bands ’til late from Tues-Sat. Music policy leans towards party-friendly ska, funk and suchlike. They also boast one of the largest courtyards in the area: smokers’ delight.
