A community hub in east central Bristol is preparing to run its annual awards ceremony to celebrate local people.

Nominations have opened for this year’s awards, which will culminate in an event at the Trinity Centre in October.

The Thank You Awards celebrate Lawrence Hill and Easton’s diverse communities
The Thank You Awards maintain a focus on voluntary groups, with paid workers not eligible for nominations.
Becky Whitmore, Eastside Community Trust’s communications manager, says the awards are “a truly inspiring event.”
She said: “We have a really great community spirit and there are lots of people working hard to help out residents in the area.
“It can seem like a thankless task sometimes. If, for example, you’re working to keep your street clean, the Thank You Awards are a way of thanking people and encouraging them to continue helping our community as it really does make a difference.”

The trust say they never have a shortage of nominations, receiving more than 50 nominations every year.
Becky added: “It’s a really joyous event. Being together in a room hearing all of the acts of kindness others are doing.
“It’s always a really diverse night, we get to celebrate all aspects of Lawrence Hill’s varied community.”
The awards are being held on October 11 at the Trinity Centre. Nominations close on September 10 and are now open: www.forms.office.com
