Nominations open to name new street cleansing van
Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is asking for the public’s help to name its brand-new street cleansing van.
The electric van replaces the trusty milk float vehicle that had aided Bristol City Centre BID’s street cleansing team for the last four years.
In its time it provided over 25,000 hours of street cleansing and removed almost 6,000 graffiti tags, and is now being sent into a well-deserved retirement.
is needed now More than ever

However, the new super-van, which works seven days a week, will continue to improve the appearance of the city for its residents and visitors alike.
With plans in place for an eye-catching exterior design, all it needs now is a catchy name chosen by the people of Bristol. Bristol City Centre BID are looking for fun, original and clean names.
Current suggestions include Scrubsy Malone, the Cleaning Tower of Pisa, Sweep Dreams and Scrubs Bunny.
Other cities across the country have seen success with naming public service vehicles, from Warwick’s street sweepers ‘Sweep Caroline’ and ‘Sweepersaurus Rex’, to Doncaster’s famous gritters ‘Brad Grit’ and ‘Gritney Spears’.

All suggestions and nominations can be submitted on the BID website, where a select few will be shortlisted and put to a public vote across its social media channels – leaving the final decision in the hands of the community.
Vicky Lee, head of Bristol City Centre BID, said: “We can’t wait to see the names Bristol comes up with for our brand new cleansing vehicle.
“We’re such a vibrant city bursting with creativity and we love getting our community involved in our projects.
