Funding bid to turn video into exhibition
A crowdfunding bid has been launched to turn an art project about people’s hopes for the future into an exhibition in the centre of Bristol.
one day: Day One – resilience has been recording questions and starting conversations in communities across the city about what the future will be like.
And it has now started a crowd-funding campaign to raise £3,200 so still images from the video project can be displayed to the public.
is needed now More than ever
Over the summer the project collected the thoughts, hopes and dreams of people in 23 communities within the city, producing over 1,000 videos recorded in the specially-made Day One Dome.
Members of the public were asked to pose a question which, with the help of an app, could be asked to the person entering the dome after them.
This kept the conversation going and gave an insight into what the people of Bristol are thinking about in relation to the future.
Now, lead artist Sara Zaltash, is hoping to create an exhibition at John Wesley’s Chapel on The Horsefair from November 12-22, where she wants to display at least 80 photographs from the project.
These photographs will be of the people who answered and asked questions in the dome and will be captioned with “a statement, a provocation, a dream”. The dome used in the project will also be in the exhibition.
They will also be using the money to print postcards that will be given to investors and sold to raise more funds. If you decide to donate more than £25 you will receive a print from the project after the exhibit has ended.
If they raise more than their £3,200 target, they aim to go to refugee camp in Calais to spread the conversation.
