Man dies after taking legal high spice
A 49-year-old man died, while three other men were taken to hospital after falling ill having taken a legal high known as Spice.
Police are investigating a possible link between the incidents which they believe may have been triggered by the psychoactive substance.
One man was found unresponsive in St James’ Park on Friday and died later. The three men taken to hospital were found at separate locations. They have now been discharged.
is needed now More than ever
Drugs strategy manager Paul Bunt said: “We’ve seen a number of serious incidents in Bristol and are warning people not to take these so called legal highs”
“Many of these types of products contain chemicals which have not been tested on humans but if consumed can leave you seriously ill, or perhaps dead. These messages are reinforced by the imminent arrival of the psychoactive substances bill which is due to come into force in April and will therefore be illegal.”
Police are urging people to report any person or premises which sell legal highs to children by calling 101.
