Orange Order march through Bristol
The sounds of a marching band filled the air as an Orange Order parade took place to mark the 30th anniversary of Bristol’s lodge.
More usually seen in Northern Ireland, Orange Order parades often take place through Belfast under tight security, with the marches celebrating a centuries-old Protestant victory over Catholics.
The parade in Bristol started in Millennium Square on Saturday morning before making its way through the city centre.

The Grand Orange Lodge of England describe themselves as part of “a world-wide Protestant fraternity which exists for the establishment and preservation of Civil and Religious Liberty and the Protestant Religion”.
“The Institution is named in glorious memory of King William III, Prince of Orange, who gave us civil and religious liberties, and the Constitutional Democracy that we in Britain enjoy to this day.”
