Paedophile jailed after raping young girls
A sex offender from Bristol who abused young girls over 30 years has been jailed for 24 years.
Mark Hill, 53, of no fixed abode, committed his first offence in the early 1980s when he assaulted a 13-year-old girl.
Hill continued to abuse right up until he was apprehended by police in 2015 after a witness came forward.
is needed now More than ever
At least four girls aged between five and 13-years-old and a woman aged 18-years-old were targeted by him over the years, with the offences being committed in the Bristol area.
He was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault, four counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 13 and one count of indecency with a child following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.
He had previously admitted two counts of creating indecent images, one count of sexual assault, one count of sexual assault by touching and one count of rape.
In addition to the prison sentence, Hill will also have to sign onto the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely and will be subject to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
Investigating officer DC Emma George said: “My first thoughts in this case are with the victims. They were all young girls at the time of the offences and had to endure horrific ordeals.
“It’s almost impossible to comprehend the impact Hill’s offending has had on them and the lasting effect it will have on their lives.
“The courage and bravery needed by them to come forward and speak to police shouldn’t be underestimated and they’ve been given all the help and support they need.
“This case sends a loud and clear message that it doesn’t matter when offences like this were committed, we’ll always listen to, believe and respect victims and ultimately try and obtain justice for them.
