Painted parking scheme protest in Montpelier

This new mural by Georgie is critical of what she perceives are the discriminatory practices towards blue badge holders.

Georgie has also raised the issue with George Ferguson on Twitter. “residents parking zones exclude disabled blue badge holders. Change the rules!” she wrote.

“They don’t!” the mayor responded.

Anti-RPZ campaigners say that the zones will make it harder for those holding a Blue Badge to get around because they are not allowed to park freely in permit-holder bays.

Former Labour councillor Kelvin Blake set up a petition last year to change the current restrictions that bar blue badge holders from parking in permit holder only parking bays within the new formed zones but it gained only 342 signatures.
