Pero’s Bridge disappears in fog
Pero’s Bridge will be disappearing behind fog until Sunday as part of the In Between Time festival.
Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya was invited to help celebrate Bristol’s status as European Green Capital by creating a conceptual vision of how changing weather may affect our lives.
Over 40 years, Nakaya has used fog as a sculptural medium.

The clouds which envelope the bridge every 15 minutes or so are created by water pumped at high pressure through many micro-fine nozzles.
The installation seemed to take many passers-by by surprise at its launch on Thursday evening.
Jenny Monks was walking home from work and said that she knew nothing about the project: “It was a bit of a surprise. I don’t know about how it represents climate change, but it’s fun.”
“It’s really wet and cold,” said 12-year-old Josh Philips.
His mum Sue said she didn’t know about Bristol’s Green Capital status but the “bridge looks lovely”.
