Lawrence Weston Community Farm seek your photos
Lawrence Western Community Farm has been a pillar of the community for 30 years, and much has changed on the site over those years. The farm formerly held photographic records, showing the farm from inception onwards, but these were almost all destroyed in a devastating fire five months ago.
Following a bungled burglary attempt in March, the main farm building was ravaged by an inferno which destroyed years’ worth of farmyard history. Perhaps the only saving grace was the fact that no people or any of the animals were hurt.

A farm building after the huge fire
The charity is now asking for help from the wider Bristol community to help them rebuild their archive and supply them with photographic records of the community’s history.
is needed now More than ever
Following the fire, the community banded together to show overwhelming support, raising over £4,000 less than a week after the destruction. They are hoping that the same support will be shown for their current archival search.
The farm is an independent, community-managed charity that aims to enable local people, many of whom experience disadvantage and inequity, to improve the quality of their lives. As farm adviser Robin Hicks put it, “people of all ages come to the farm to help, to volunteer or to chill. Many have had not the best of starts in life, but, whatever their burden, being at the farm seems to make them feel better”.
Despite all the hardships, they are still a hugely positive bunch, keen to celebrate being part of the Lawrence Weston community for the past 30 years, rather than dwell upon what they have lost.
