By Martin Booth  Wednesday Sep 30, 2020

A police car was left seriously damaged following a crash near Cabot Circus.

A large gash had been taken out of the car on its left side and a large dent caused on its right after the collision with a Mini Cooper on St Paul Road close to its junction with Newfoundland Road.

A sign had also been uprooted from between the road and cycle path, with the grey Mini left crumpled against the police car, which also had its side airbags deployed.

The police car was left almost sideways on St Paul Road, with both vehicles pointing in the direction of Portland Square on Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement, Avon & Somerset Police said: “Shortly after 4pm a marked police car was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Newfoundland Road, Bristol.

“Officers were responding to a 999 call and had their lights and sirens on at the time.

“An ambulance was called following the collision but thankfully neither the officers or the occupant of the other car were injured.”
