Police chief misconduct hearing begins
A behind-closed-doors hearing into allegations that Avon and Somerset chief constable Nick Gargan acted inappropriately towards women begins on Monday.
Gargan, 48, who was suspended on full pay of about £150,000 when allegations surfaced 14 months ago, is also accused of breaching data protection rules.
The hearing, which is taking place at an undisclosed location, will see a panel sit for 10 days before making a finding of gross misconduct, misconduct or no case to answer for an undisclosed number of charges.
is needed now More than ever
Police and Crime commissioner Sue Mountstevens will make a final decision on whether Gargan is dismissed or can return to work.
But Gargan has the opportunity to appeal up to ten days after Mountstevens makes her decision, which could delay the final outcome by a number of months.
