Police close Bristol crack house

By Pamela Parkes  Tuesday Oct 21, 2014

Police have closed a crack house in Redcliffe.

Officers acted after complaints from people living near the property in Freeling House on Prewett Street. Neighbours said drug users were constantly visiting the property.

A court closure order was granted for the property for the next eight weeks.

Andy Whelpton, Neighbourhood Sergeant, said: “We took action after we received numerous complaints from local residents about behaviour and activity at the flat.

“We found evidence of drug use and anti-social behaviour at the property and families living in area stated that they were living in fear of the people who were associated with the flat.

“This crack house closure means that the property has been boarded up and the tenant won’t be able to enter again for at least eight weeks.

Kate Matthews, ASB coordinator in Bristol, said: “We hope this closure will have a positive impact on the community, and will bring some relief to the neighbours.
