Pro-EU campaigners set to speak in Bristol
Pro-EU campaigners are calling on the people of Bristol to strengthen their resolve to fight against the “failing” Brexit negotiations.
Jolyon Maugham QC, who became a household name with his bid to get a court ruling stating that Article 50 could be revoked, has since slammed the Government’s “farcical response” to the discussions.
Together with Dr Mike Galsworthy, of Scientists for EU, he will speak before an anticipated audience of 200 in The Lantern Room of the Colston Hall on Tuesday from 6.30pm.
is needed now More than ever
Cross-party campaign group Bristol For Europe organised the event in a bid to boost the morale of the majority in the city who opted to remain in the EU and explore where the country stands 13 months on from the Brexit vote.
“Brexit is crumbling and failing and we are determined to shout out as loudly as we can to get them to stop it,” says the group’s Stephen Perry.
“We are looking to maintain morale and strengthen the resolve of the people of Bristol to fight and influence politicians to ‘stop this nonsense’.”

More than 2,000 people braved the rain on College Green last June to stand up for the EU
Perry added that the number of people supporting Bristol For Europe’s campaign is growing and now exceeds 5,300, as “the continued political chaos in Westminster points to the negotiations with the EU unravelling.”
More than 2,000 people in Bristol turned out to stand up for the EU and denounce a rise in hate crimes in the wake of the referendum result in June last year. Of those eligible to vote in the city, 61 per cent voted to remain.
Tickets for the event cost £5 and are available online.
