Pro-Palestine, anti-lockdown and NHS pay: three protests in Bristol on same day

By Martin Booth  Saturday May 15, 2021

Bristol is well-known for being a city of protest. But rarely have three such disparate demonstrations taken place on the same day.

First were NHS staff asking for a 15 per cent pay rise; next were people marching in support of Palestine; and then came a ragtag group of anti-lockdown protesters, urging we “stand up to tyranny”.

The protest which easily drew the largest crowds was the pro-Palestine event, which saw protesters start and finish by the bandstand in Castle Park and in-between marching through the city.
