Protesters gather to campaign against cashless society
A small group of protesters gathered on Gloucester Road at midday on Wednesday to campaign against a cashless society.
The foursome met at the Sainsbury’s Local near the Elton Road/Zetland Road junction, where they held up placards.
“No cashless society,” read one of the signs. “Cash is freedom. Say NO to Digital Money,” said another.
is needed now More than ever
The two of the protesters who were happy to talk explained that they were not part of a group or movement but there as individuals.
“We don’t want a central bank of digital currency because it has too much control over what people save and spend,” said one of them.
“The control potential of it is vast and if you look at China, the social credit system is disastrous and not even human.”
Some cars did beep their horns in support of the protesters as they passed, with others approaching the group for more information.
Another one of the protesters said they fear financial transactions are heading in a way where they will soon be done by microchip implants.
“There will be nowhere you can go where you’re not tracked and traced,” they warned.
“If they don’t like your opinions, you could be cut off from all your resources, pushed out from all access.
“In America, they are chipping dogs and cats in preparation almost,” they added.
