Punters left perplexed as Propyard pulls the plug a week early
Anybody who booked tables for the Bank Holiday weekend at one of Bristol’s newest venues will have to look for alternative options after organisers unexpectedly announced its early closure.
The closure of Propyard is only until September when it will reopen for its next series of events, exhibitions and experiences.
But punters with bookings over the next few days at the former torpedo test site on Feeder Road have reacted angrily to the news, which they first heard about via social media.
is needed now More than ever
“I’ve got a booking for 17 people this Thursday coming,” wrote franster84 on Instagram. “I just had an email earlier today asking me to confirm it. What’s going on?”
cpjohnson said: “Hi, I’ve made a booking for a large group for this Sunday. I went down to the venue on Saturday to do this and was told it was all sorted?! Assume this is no longer an option?”
carleeeeng added that the situation is “pretty annoying as I’ve friends travelling down to attend, air bnb booked etc”.

Bristol24/7 was told that Propyard has been hit with staff shortages due to the festival season, with any bookings for this weekend unable to be fulfilled.
Propyard’s Sam Watts blamed the return of many events for a lack of available staff, meaning that the venue has had to close a week earlier than expected.
Watts said: “As a new venue with a summer pop-up, many of people who make up our hospitality team work at festivals.
“With the return of so many major events this weekend, it has become untenable for us to be able to host guests this weekend with a level of service which we would want.
“We’re massively disappointed and apologise to all our customers who booked to join us but we promise to be back with some exciting things after a few weeks away.”

Propyard will be used as a rehearsal space for Paraorchestra in September ahead of their parade performance, Smoosh!, through the streets of Knowle West.
M Shed street art exhibition Vanguard will also be hosting their closing party at the venue, with a charity auction for Temwa and Aid Box Community.
