Pussy Riot to come to Bristol as part of Social Media Week
World famous feminist activist punks, Pussy Riot, are coming to Bristol in June to take part in an exploration of activism in the social and digital age.
The Russian band will be speaking at a half-day conference during Social Media Week Bristol, held in partnership with the University of Bristol.
The conference is aimed at campaigners, cause-related marketers, non-profits, charities and anyone with an interest in mobilising social change.

The event will be rounded off with a chat with members of Pussy Riot, who gained global notoriety in 2012 when five members of the group staged a performance inside Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
The conference will be hosted by Bess Hepworth, human rights campaigner and founder of Planet Ally who specialise in using social media as a tool for visibility, solidarity and advocacy.
The session will share high profile global case studies of positive change, include presentations from activists and activist groups still to be announced, a panel discussion, and an audience Q&A.
Bristol24/7 Editor, Martin Booth, will also be discuss Bristol24/7’s mission to build a better Bristol through their social impact work.
The event on Thursday, June 13 is co-sponsored by the University of Bristol School of Sociology, Politics & International Studies and the Gender Research Centre.
